Steel Grit Blasting Consumable

An abrasive obtained by crushing and grinding hardened martensitic steel shot, which thanks to its angular structure provides faster surface cleaning than steel shot in pre-paint roughening and rust/dirt removal operations.

  • Suitable for use in air blasting systems — not recommended for turbine systems
  • Faster surface cleaning than steel shot — process speed advantage provides economy
  • 9 different size options (from G-12 to G-120)
  • Ideal for pre-paint roughening and rust/dirt removal

Product Description

Martensitic steel grit, obtained solely by crushing and grinding hardened steel shot with a martensitic structure, is more suitable for use in air blasting systems — due to its angular structure it is not recommended for turbine systems, as it can rapidly wear the turbine blades of turbine machines and damage the machine.

It is used mainly for pre-paint roughening and the rapid removal of dirt/rust layers from surfaces; in terms of reuse it has a shorter service life than steel shot, but given the process speed it is economical since it provides much faster surface cleaning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between steel grit and steel shot?

Steel grit is obtained by crushing and grinding hardened steel shot; thanks to its angular structure it gives faster results than steel shot in pre-paint roughening and rust/dirt removal.

Can steel grit be used in turbine machines?

No — steel grit is suitable for air blasting systems; its use in turbine systems is not recommended.

What sizes is steel grit sold in?

It is offered in 9 different size codes, from G-12 (1.70-2.40 mm) to G-120 (0.10-0.30 mm).
