3D Printing Post-Processing Solutions
Blasting and dust collection solutions for support structure cleaning, residual dust removal and surface roughness improvement of metal and plastic 3D printed parts.
Overview
Why Is Blasting Used in 3D Printing Post-Processing? Parts produced by additive manufacturing (metal laser sintering/melting or plastic printing) carry post-process residues on their surface, such as support structure remnants, adhered/caked powder, and high surface roughness caused by layer lines. Blasting removes these residues while also homogenizing the part surface, preparing it for subsequent coating or use. In metal 3D printing processes, safely collecting the resulting metal powder and, where possible, recycling it back into the feed is a separate critical requirement (specialized dust collection equipment is required due to the risk of explosion/flammability).
A Material-Sensitive Approach: Since 3D printed parts generally have thin-walled and delicate geometries, softer, low-aggressiveness consumables such as glass beads or plastic abrasive are preferred over aggressive abrasives.
