Polyurethane Blasting
Low-pressure blasting for surface cleaning and preparation of polyurethane parts, preserving the flexible/soft polymer structure.
Overview
Polyurethane is a polymer group that does not breed bacteria, does not decay, is odorless, and has high insulation properties. It is used across a very wide range of applications, from shoe soles to furniture foam, from refrigerator and water-heater insulation to automotive interior parts and cold-room panels.
Polyurethane blasting is performed to remove mold marks, create the desired surface texture, or give the surface the appearance of another material such as wood. With the right abrasive and blasting parameters, polyurethane surfaces can be enriched with 3-dimensional patterns to increase product variety.
Recommended Abrasives for Polyurethane
- Aluminum Oxide — creates distinct texture and pattern
- Silicon Carbide — more aggressive surface treatment
Depending on the blasting purpose, other hard, sharp-edged abrasives can also be considered. Contact Saykar to select the consumable and machine best suited to your application.
