From spare-parts manufacturing to restoration, blasting solutions for surface preparation and cleaning at every stage of the automotive industry.

Overview

Why Is Blasting Used in the Automotive Industry? In the automotive industry, blasting is a core surface-treatment method used at many stages, from the production line to maintenance and repair. Roughening the surface before painting and coating helps the coating adhere better to the metal, which is why blasting parts such as chassis, wheels and engine blocks before painting is a common production step. For engine, transmission and suspension components produced by casting and welding, cleaning off post-production flash, rust and oxide layers is also done by blasting. In addition, on classic/restoration vehicles, blasting is a frequently preferred method for returning corroded chassis and body parts to their original surface. Processing high-volume small parts such as fasteners (bolts, nuts, washers, etc.) in series with standard and repeatable surface quality is also a key need of the automotive supply industry.

Flexibility in the Field and in the Workshop: Automotive maintenance-repair and restoration workshops generally look for portable, flexible solutions that can be used whenever needed, rather than a fixed blasting line. Cabinet-free, field-type blasting equipment is preferred in situations such as the underbody or exhaust system, where the work must be done in place without disassembly.

Racing and High-Performance Teams: Not only series production and restoration workshops, but also high-performance racing teams prefer wet blasting for parts cleaning and surface preparation — especially for the fast and precise between-race maintenance of critical components such as engines and transmissions.
